It Starts With You: The Most Important Relationship in Your Life

Love yourself, flaws and all. You are deserving of love and respect.

Can You?
Name one successful entertainer who does not have a team behind them. Can you? If you can please write their names in the comments below. Even if you are entertaining by posting a Video from your bedroom each day, you have a team behind you.
You have a relationship with the hosting company, it may be YouTube, Vimeo or another platform. You have a relationship with the social media companies that help introduce you to your audience, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook or any other SM platform.
You have a relationship with the companies that provided the tools that helped you to create your video and post it. Camera, mics, computer, tripod and more. You ultimately have a relationship with your audience who will be supporting you, cheering you on and looking forward to your next post.
In essence, even the most solo entertainer has a relationship with someone. In this series we will talk about the value and the importance of relationships for a successful career beginning with the most important relationship in your life.
The Most Important Relationship In Your Life

The Choices You Make

Trust Your Instincts, Trust Your Heart, Trust Yourself
Two-time Academy Award winner Hilary Swank
When I don’t trust my instincts, it turns out to be the wrong thing! I think we all understand what that’s like, the idea of having a gut feeling, having an instinct and then not following it… But I have never made a choice where I didn’t follow my instincts and it was a regret, because I still learned from all those experiences and I wouldn’t ever change that lesson. But I am definitely reminded you’ve got to trust your instincts, and the older I get, the more comfortable I am with that.

Well, sometimes you say, “That’s not right for me,” and some people get offended and they say, “Oh, no, I really think you should.” You know, people, even family, they really want you to be a part of things because they feel that that would be right for your career for you as a person or whatever. So a lot of times we make decisions that maybe our parents would want for us… But I think it’s really important that people make a choice in their life and follow it. We only have one life and living it to your fullest ability in the way you feel is imperative.
That pretty much sums it up not just for Ms. Swank, but for everyone. Trust your instincts and when you don’t learn from the lesson it taught you.
Implementing Your New Insights
Ready to Take the Next Step? Here’s How!
Your Story / Your Life
Are you now starting to think about relationships and your relationship with yourself and your life?
Here are three action steps you can take to better equip yourself with trusting your instincts or if you are already a wiz at this, make your instincts even stronger.

-
-
-
-
- Create a note or recording to write down or speak about everything you did that you love or you were not comfortable with doing during the course of a week.
- Reread / listen and connect with the feelings that arise.
- What feels great and why?
- What upsets you and why?
-
-
-
Sit with that and in a future post I will talk about next steps.
Do not in anyway shape or form judge yourself. Embrace YOU! You be you and all the great parts and not so great parts are beautiful.
The point is to get to know yourself and what I have found the more I write things down or speak them the more I can either strenghten the areas I love, work through the areas I do not love or accept and stop fighting what I cannot change.
Also it is great and helps a lot with not repeating the same issues that I am not happy about creating in my life. Seriously, if you don’t have to repeat a bad experience, why should you?
Now it is important to remind you that I am not a medical expert or as I heard one writer state, there are no -ist after my name. So, I f you need help from a licensed therapist or a coach or anyone you feel will assist you, reach out. There are so many avenues available to you for assistance.
If you decide to move forward with the next steps, please let us know how you are doing in the comments. We would be thrilled to hear about your progress and any ideas you would like to share that have helped you. How wonderful to simply help each other. And a big YES, comments will be curated so we only work with the best this community has to offer. This is not for anyone to be rude. Not here.
The best is no one has one answer to anything, but collectively we can find the answers to many questions that help us as we move forward in our career. So please, write your comment below and let’s lift each other up.
